A Walk in the Park

Monday, March 4

In Atenas, as in most Costa Rican towns, there is a park in the middle of town and across from that park is a large and impressive church, sometimes a cathedral. This park is called Parque Central or - as in New York City - Central Park.

This park occupies a large city block. It is planted with Royal Palms and other lovely trees and tropical shrubs. A large path runs through the park on a diagonal.

As we walk through the park, we notice that on several of the trees along the path are signs that contain quotes from famous people from all over the world - Emerson, Freud, Che Gueverra come to mind. Here is one that intrigued us:

Seamos realistas y hagamos lo imposible by Che Guevera. "We are realists and we do the impossible."
